Senior Civil Engineer

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Senior Civil Engineer will be responsible for the management of high-quality engineering and design related to the on/offshore wind packages and solar PV within budget and on time. As part of Technical Services Team you will be managing civil and geotechnical engineering in various projects with the close cooperation with contractors, package managers, consultants, and team members by reviewing and evaluating the design deliverables, and actively involved in technical due diligence and tender process of work packages including, but not limited to, technical specification preparation, assessment of proposals, technical discussions, etc. throughout the project lifecycle from planning to operation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and supervise the civil/geotechnical engineering and design development for all aspects related to the wind packages and solar photovoltaic plants in the lead up to construction and T&I ensuring compliance with project requirements and on time delivery of design scopes
  • Responsible for technical review and approval on the engineering deliverables (e.g. design basis, reports, procedures, drawings, etc.) including technical discussions with stakeholders in terms of the various civil works (engineering contractor, EPC contractor, Work Package contractors, OE, Consultant, etc.)
  • Responsible for controlling and monitoring progress and quality of civil works on sites per Vena Energy HSSE policy, contract, and local regulations across the sites
  • Responsible for technical review and coordination on the geotechnical, geohazard, hydrology assessments, foundation system design (incl. reinforced concrete, complex soil-structure interaction analyses) for wind turbines, foundation and mounting/supporting system for solar PV, transportation road, buildings, slopes, retaining walls, drainage, crane paths and pads, etc.
  • Review the detailed geophysical and geotechnical reports for geotechnical parameters and design basis
  • Collaborating with the contractors for different engineering disciplines within the Foundation design, e.g. structures, loads, and installation, etc.
  • Support the tendering process for work packages (WTG, EPC, Cable, etc.) from a technical perspective including preparation of tender documents, bid evaluations, specification preparation, etc.
  • Support technical due diligence during the project acquisition and development phases providing technical evaluations and recommendations, cost analysis, etc.
  • Engineering support and monitoring in fabrication and construction phase ensuring that they are scheduled and built in accordance with plans and specifications including resolving potential issue, providing timely feedback to management, site visit, etc.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in civil, geotechnical engineering, coastal and port engineering, or other relevant discipline with preference for a Master’s degree

Experience

  • More than 10 years relevant professional experience and proven track records in civil, geotechnical, coastal and port engineering and management with supervision works in on/offshore projects (renewable energy, oil & gas, infrastructures, etc.)
  • Relevant industry experience in the design and/or construction of wind and solar project
  • Relevant industry experience in designing fixed and/or floating offshore structures, e.g. jackets, monopiles, floaters, offshore oil & gas structures would be advantageous, but not a prerequisite
  • Knowledge of prevailing Korean civil standards
  • Experience reviewing geotechnical site investigation reports and laboratory test results
  • Understanding of geotechnical and civil site design aspects of wind and solar farm projects
